Let Go And Move Forward This Mother’s Day (Special Offer For Mothers Enclosed!)

Updated: Nov 13, 2018

I blame my mother for nothing, but forgive her for everything.

- singer Mary J. Blige

I believe this Mother’s Day will be very important to many of you. Could it be a day of forgiveness for you?

Mary J. Blige has sold more than 50 million albums, yet her mother was an alcoholic and her family life was broken in many other ways. Blige herself struggled with addiction, failed relationships and other issues. But it’s hard to imagine a more successful person on the planet. Maybe Oprah – but she’s been honest about her family struggles early in life too.

Today, I’m writing specifically to you if you’re a mother or if you can’t forgive your mother for things that she did to you or allowed to happen to you.

If you’re unable to forgive your mother, now’s a great time to let go of the pain, resentment, hatred or whatever bad feelings you have and move forward. Your negative feelings don’t hurt anyone else, but they hold you back. You may have expected your mother to be perfect, but she may have been too young, too busy with work or simply too distracted by her own problems. You can finally put the past behind you if you choose to forgive rather than to blame.

My mother was just 15 when I was born. Of course she made big mistakes because she didn’t know anything about raising children. She was still a child herself. With everything that happened to me, there’s a lot of blame to go around. I could blame my mother for some of the most painful experiences of my life. But I don’t. I feel compassion for the problems in her life that caused the negative situations for me – and I love my mother more than you can imagine.

Today, I hope you can find a way to love your mother unconditionally and forgive her for whatever mistakes she made. Those mistakes weren’t intentional, and she probably didn’t mean to hurt you. Even if you don’t feel loved by your mother today, you can still forgive her. It’s the right thing to do, and it will release you from a lifetime of pain and resentment that’s holding you back.

If you’re a mother, I hope you feel loved and appreciated. Not all of us can fully express our love for our mothers, but we know that we wouldn’t exist without you. I hope you forgive us for our mistakes too.
